Support for Trainee Counsellors.

Growing into the therapist you want to become

Training to become a counsellor is exciting, inspiring and deeply rewarding, it can also feel overwhelming.

Alongside assignments, skills practice and personal development, you're preparing to work with real clients for the first time. It's natural to question yourself, worry about "getting it right" or wonder whether you're ready.

The truth is, most trainee counsellors feel exactly the same. You don't have to navigate it alone.

Supervision for trainee counsellors

Choosing your first supervisor is an important step in your counselling journey.

I offer a warm, supportive and collaborative space where you can reflect on your client work, build confidence and develop your own therapeutic identity.

Supervision is about far more than discussing cases. It's a place to think, ask questions, celebrate your progress and explore the challenges that naturally arise during training and placement.

Together we'll explore:

  • Building confidence as a new therapist

  • Working ethically and safely

  • Developing your own counselling style

  • Managing self-doubt and imposter feelings

  • Looking after yourself alongside client work

  • Making sense of the emotional impact of placement

My aim is to help you grow in confidence while feeling supported every step of the way.

Preparing for placement

Starting placement can feel like a huge milestone.

Many trainees tell me they feel excited one moment and terrified the next.

Questions like...

"What if I don't know what to say?"

"What if I make a mistake?"

"How do I balance placement, study and life?"

...are all completely normal.

Having the right support before and during placement can make a real difference to both your confidence and your learning.

Coming soon: Placement Preparation Workshops

I'm currently developing a series of practical, supportive workshops designed specifically for student and trainee counsellors.

These workshops will help you prepare for placement with greater confidence and make the most of the opportunities your placement offers.

Topics will include:

  • Preparing for your first client

  • Building confidence before placement begins

  • Making the most of supervision

  • Looking after yourself while supporting others

  • Developing your professional identity

  • Common challenges trainees face (and how to navigate them)

My hope is to create workshops that are honest, practical and reassuring—giving you the knowledge, confidence and encouragement to thrive throughout your training.
