Counselling for Burnout & Overwhelm

When you're always the one holding everything together

Somewhere along the way, you've stopped recognising yourself.

You're exhausted, overwhelmed and constantly carrying the weight of everyone else's needs. From the outside, it probably looks like you're coping. You keep going to work, looking after your family, replying to messages and ticking things off the never ending list.

Burnout isn't always about work

Burnout can happen when life asks too much of you for too long.

It may be the pressure of work, but it can also come from parenting, caring for others, relationship difficulties, chronic stress, perfectionism or always being the person everyone depends on.

For many women, burnout develops after years of carrying the invisible mental load remembering, organising, worrying and putting everyone else's needs before their own.

For neurodivergent adults, the constant effort of masking ADHD or Autism, trying to fit in or feeling "too much" or “not enough” can be emotionally exhausting.

Whatever has brought you here, burnout can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and the life you want to be living.

Does this sound familiar?

Perhaps you're:

  • Constantly tired, no matter how much you rest.

  • Snapping at the people you love, then feeling guilty afterwards.

  • Struggling to switch off or relax.

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally numb.

  • Overthinking everything and doubting yourself.

  • Wondering where you have gone.

Burnout affects every part of life your relationships, your confidence, your work and your sense of who you are.

But it doesn't have to stay this way.

How counselling can help

Therapy gives you the space to stop holding everything on your own.

Together we'll gently explore what's led to your burnout, understand the patterns that keep you stuck and help you reconnect with yourself.

There is no judgement, no pressure to have the right words and no expectation that you should simply "try harder". Instead, we'll work at your pace to help you find a way of living that feels calmer, healthier and more sustainable.

If you're unsure whether what you're experiencing is burnout, I've written more about the different ways burnout develops, why it's so common in women and neurodivergent adults, and what recovery can look like in my blog series on burnout.

Therapy for children and young people

Alongside my work with adults, I also support children and young people aged 10–17 who are struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, low self-esteem or life changes.

I offer a calm, creative and supportive space where young people can explore what's going on at their own pace.

Although my practice now specialises in adult burnout and overwhelm, I continue to welcome enquiries from families looking for support for their child.

You're welcome to get in touch for an informal chat, ask any questions or book your first appointment. Reaching out can feel daunting, but you don't have to figure everything out on your own.

Inside, though, you're running on empty.

If you're wondering how you got here, you're not alone. Burnout rarely happens overnight it builds quietly, over months or years of putting yourself last.

You don't have to keep pushing through.
